Road Trip to CA Days 3 and 4

Last Wednesday I finally had a partner for the trip. Mike flew into Omaha and our first stop was to get camping supplies. We went to a local mom and pop store....I think they named it Outdoor World. Nice quaint place as you can see:

Yes that really was like 3-4 stories high, and you have to hike up man-made mountains to get to the camping gear.

We figured we could get some practice gathering food while there too:

We drove from Eaton to the Badlands and weren't able to get there until it was dark. We found a KOA campground outside of the park and decided to call it a night. We set up the tent (Boy Scout skills do come in handy) and went to bed for the night. I think we only slept in 2 hour increments because the wind progressively got stronger, and my face kept getting closer to the top of the tent. This is how our tent looked most of the night while the wind was whipping:
